Registration Fees & Pack Dues are paid by ALL Scout families (New Scouts and returning Scouts) each fall, commensurate with the beginning of the school year. Registration Fees & Pack Dues cover a variety of expenses, further explained below:
NEW Scouts will complete an online Scouting registration process via https://www.atlantabsa.org/register (Details covered during Annual Sign-up Night). As part of this registration process, NEW Scouts will pay the following Registration Fees directly to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA):
- A ONE-TIME $25 new BSA member fee + A pro-rated annual BSA registration fee
- ($6.25 per month, for September -December 31, 2022 totaling $25) = $50
- NEW Scouts will also have the opportunity during online registration to buy the remaining monthly Scout’s Life magazine issues for 2022 (~$1 per issue).
NEW & RETURNING Scouts: Pack Dues (includes 2023 BSA Registration fees), are to be paid by ALL SCOUTS (NEW and RETURNING) directly to the Pack (forms of accepted payment to be published PRIOR to fall Sign-up night). This year’s Pack Dues are $175 which are to be PAID on the date of SIGN-UP NIGHT (8/18/22) FOR NEW SCOUTS and DURING OUR FIRST PACK MEETING (8/8/22) FOR RETURNING SCOUTS.
Pack Dues cover the following:
- 2023 (January 2023-December 2023) Scout & Adult Leader BSA registration costs and insurance
- Class B T-shirt for Scouts and officially registered adult volunteer leaders (To be distributed by Den Leaders, after Sign-up Night)
- Scout Life monthly magazine subscription for 2023
- All Scout achievement badge/belt loop/patch recognition awards
- Rank-up slide/woggle (Tigers-Webelos)
- Staple Pack activities such as the Pinewood Derby & Blue & Gold Banquet
- Adult leader training costs
- Any cash flow challenges posed by anticipated lower fundraising revenue projections (Concessions, Popcorn & Camp Card sales)
Special Notes:
Financial Assistance is available for Families facing a challenging financial situation that could preclude their child from participating in Scouting. Impacted Families should make their Den Leader and/or one of the Pack’s Key 3 Leaders (Cubmaster, Committee Chair, Charter Organization Representative) aware of their situation, in order to initiate the assistance consideration process. Scouting is for ALL, regardless of financial or social status.
All adult leaders serving in a Den Leader or Committee Member role will register as an Official Scout Leader with BSA. Although there is an annual cost associated with adult leader registration, the Pack will pay the fee directly or reimburse leaders for this cost. This cost is factored into the annual budget and funded through Pack dues.
